Owner: Deward Timothy
Audio Perfection since 1924.
As a top provider of professional audio and audio-visual equipment sales, service, rental and support, the essence of Poll Sound is "perfect audio." The company doesn't just sell a product or provide a service - it delivers an experience. This differentiates Poll Sound from other companies that provide similar services, but lack the quality, expertise, craftsmanship and tradition inherent in the Poll Sound brand. Additionally, the commitment to customer satisfaction at Poll Sound goes unmatched.
In 1924, Harry Poll started Poll Audio Broadcasting when a “mostly home-made” sound system was set up for baseball fans to listen to a World Series broadcast at KSL Studios. Mr. Poll was an immaculate craftsman with a natural understanding of the physics of sound reinforcement. He ran and grew his company for 50 years, having changed the name a few times along the way. In 1974, he sold the company to Deward Timothy, who had been his apprentice and a longtime employee of the company. Mr. Timothy has since grown the business steadily and continues to be on the leading edge of sound reinforcement and audio-visual technologies. In 1987, he moved the business to its current location in South Salt Lake; in 2006 he expanded the company to St. George, Utah.
Deward’s interest in sound and audio-visual began in grade school. In junior high he volunteered to take a class on running projectors, which led to a lead position on the technical stage crew. In high school he studied both electronics and music. All of these studies, experiences, and interests provided the basic knowledge he would need for a successful career in the sound business.
The employees of Poll Sound have extensive knowledge when it comes to audio and offer unmatched authority in the industry. The staff are not only factory trained, but Poll Sound provides a tremendous amount of on-going training including instruction from many industry leaders.
Poll Sound works with the community in many areas. On the rental side, they provide sound for such notable events as the Days of '47 Parade and the Utah State Fair. On the design and installation side, they have built systems for venues such as the Utah State Capitol Building, BYU Marriott Center Arena and the University of Utah Huntsman Arena. Because they provide equipment, technology and craftsmanship that is leading edge and state-of-the-art, buyers need not look outside of our area to get the best systems and highest value. Most other communities in the United States cannot say the same.
Poll Sound is a member of the national sound engineering organizations, Infocomm, National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) and Audio Engineering Society (AES), and are strong supporters of the communities they serve.
