Owner: Stephen Neeley
M&M Tool and Machinery has been in business for 78 years and is a global distributor of industrial woodworking, construction and production equipment, replacement parts and accessories. It was established by Mr. Willard E. (Ed) Neeley, a dynamic and dedicated craftsman and entrepreneur. When it opened in 1939, it and was known as Electric Motor and Supply Company (EMSCO) and was located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. For approximately forty years, EMSCO thrived as a motor repair shop with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
As the business continued to grow, motor and machine technology evolved to where it became less practical to service motors and more economical to buy new ones. EMSCO adapted by expanding their specialization to include power tools, woodworking machinery, and construction and production equipment.
Mr. Neeley’s sons Stephen, Gary and Michael, the second generation, operated the shop during the stock market crash of 1973-1974. There were many obstacles during this time and EMSCO eventually lost their original building. But EMSCO did not collapse, instead it condensed, survived and reinvented its identity. In 1982, EMSCO was renamed M&M Tool and Machinery.
In 1999, Stephen Neeley purchased the company and he and Mike worked to grow the business into a national distributor with big buying power while keeping their focus on friendly small town service. While they specialize in the replacement and repair of tool parts and machinery; they also sell name brand tools. They have become the foremost resource for crafters, construction workers and do-it-yourself enthusiasts. Their current building is located at 3362 Main St, Salt Lake City and consists of a 13,000 square-foot showroom with a shop area and storage space.
Mike retired in 2010 and Josh Neeley, a third generation family owner, works with his dad Steve in continuing the success of the business. The Neeley family credits the success and development of M&M Tool and Machinery to the passion and dedication of its employees. Their technicians are skilled and experienced and their entire staff of representatives consists of wood workers and crafters with the knowledge to help customers find exactly what they need. They all live by the philosophy of wanting to help customers achieve greater success, to create better results and feel more confident in their craft.
M&M Tool and Machinery shares their success with the community by supporting Breast Cancer Awareness and donating to our local high schools.
